AMAZON IN FLAMES
The world has been amazed by the latest news that the burning in the Amazon rainforest is present, but to what extent are we responsible and affected by this tragedy?
IMETEX is in the city of São Paulo about 2,900 km away from the main forest fires. Yes, there were effects on our region, on 20th Aug.2019 around 3:00 pm, the afternoon turned into night due to smoke clouds caused by the massive fires in the rainforest.

We, as well as a lot of Brazilians are very concerned, but unfortunately this problem seems to be political and a lot of small entities like IMETEX are not actively involved in this crisis!
As Greta Thunberg from Fridays for Future was asked recently “ … what do you think about Donald Trump …”, she answered something similar like “… he should listen to the scientists, but as Mr. Trump is not listening to these experts how am I supposed to influence him. … therefore, it is important for me to inform the people about the current situation … and tell them how big the crisis is.”
To all our business partners, either in Brazil or in Europe, we want to inform you in a similar way that IMETEX and its employees do not accept and do not collaborate with any practice that results in environmental damage or is a threat to people and populations of conservation areas. We are – similar as Greta Thunberg – in the situation that we, as a small company, cannot do a lot, but we are concerned, and we want to tell you and the world. –
Brazil has and preserves the largest area of biodiversity in the world, is home to one of the five most important areas for maintaining marine life on the planet, and on its territory there are 254 indigenous peoples contacted and it is believed that there are 28 other uncontacted groups living in isolation in the forest. We are not a country that neglects its natural resources.
We appreciate the concern and support our country has been receiving for environmental preservation. Companies, governments and the general population must come together to define a more sustainable future.
IMETEX is already now supporting the environment by subsidizing our employees to use buses instead of cars when travelling to the company, by using waste separation and not using plastic cups any more. These are only very small steps, but IMETEX is constantly in search of the best practices of production and operation and seeks to contribute to have for all of us a better future.
